RECYCLED PAPER Countertop & Surface
CARE & MAINTENANCE
With both the Richlite Recycled Paper Surfaces & PaperStone Recycled Paper Surfaces, the following is a guide to care and maintain the natural beauty and look of your countertop and surface for both of these products.
The following is a list of the best ways to care for these products:
- Use a cutting board rather than cutting directly on the countertop and/or surface.
- Use a cutting board, trivet, or hot pad to protect the surface and finish on the surface from excessive heat.
- Wipe up any and all spills immediately.
- Wash with soapy, hot water or non-abrasive, eco-friendly cleaner…mild bleach/water cleaning solution. (see below)
- Dry countertop or surface with a soft, clean rag or towel after washing to remove any remaining water spots.
- Use of a Natural Bee’s Wax spray or paste applied to the countertop or surface after cleaning (at clients own choice)
- The use of Natural Bee’s Wax also helps water and other liquids bead up on the surface, making for an easier clean
Using a mild bleach/water cleaning solution:
- A cleaning solution made from standard bleach diluted down at least 10 times with water is also an effective
cleaner and disinfectant for PaperStone & Richlite countertops & surfaces. It is used in the restaurant industry to wipe down food service areas and kill any food bacteria. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends a 1:10 bleach to water solution.
The following is a list of what we ask/recommend the client to NOT do with their Richlite or PaperStone Recycled Products:
- Do not cut on your countertop or surface… ALWAYS USE A CUTTING BOARD.
- Do not put hot items directly on your countertop or surface.
- Do not use cleaners that contain bleach (See above details regarding using a “mild bleach/water cleaning solution”)
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or abrasive cleaning tools (scouring pads or steel wool)
- Do not slide heavy objects or objects with sharp edges across your countertop or surface as this could scratch them
- Do not use chemicals to clean or refinish your countertop or surface
